President and Co-Founder
Jeff co-founded Southpoint Solutions in 2003 along with Jack Marks and is responsible for company leadership and operations. Prior to this Jeff was general manager for Mettler-Toledo’s (NYSE: MTD) Florida operations. In this role, Jeff was responsible for a $26 million business unit with over 100 employees and was subsequently promoted to national distribution manager for US Retail Operations, overseeing 70 independent dealer companies across the country. Before this, Jeff was District Manager for DukeSolutions, where he led the business development efforts of this energy services arm of $20 billion energy and utility company Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK).
Jeff began his career of over 20 years in the energy and building technologies industries with Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI) as a sales engineer. At Johnson Controls, Jeff held various leadership positions in sales and operations management, winning national recognition as a consistent top performer. Jeff received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee with additional coursework in the MBA program at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
Jack co-founded Southpoint Solutions in 2003 along with Jeff Hickman and currently provides general management support and oversight. Prior to this Jack founded Carolina Fluid Components, Inc. in 1978, a distributor of hydraulic, pneumatic and automation products. In 1998 Mr. Marks sold the company to the Hillman Company and remained on as CEO for several years. Before this Jack worked with Cross Sales and Engineering Company as Greenville, SC Branch Manager. While at Cross he opened branch offices in Charleston S.C., Knoxville TN. and Atlanta GA and was appointed Vice President. He also worked with Mead Fluid Dynamics, a division of Stanray Corporation as Manager of Marketing and Advertising and later served as Regional Sales Manager.
Jack received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University. After which he joined the U.S. Marine Corps for three years, that included a year in Vietnam serving as a Captain in charge of a construction company. He then earned his Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Illinois.
Operations Manager/General Counsel
Dan joined Southpoint in 2012 as Operations Manager and General Counsel. Prior to joining Southpoint, Dan practiced law for 20 years, with a focus on civil litigation, workers’ compensation, alternative dispute resolution, and mediation services. Dan began his legal career in the Charlotte office of Wishart, Norris, Henninger & Pittman, a general service regional law firm. Subsequent to that, Dan co-founded Moreau & Marks, PLLC and managed that law firm for 15 years in Charlotte. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Dan received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1989 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then received his Juris Doctor with Honors in 1992 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2007, the Dispute Resolution Commission of North Carolina certified Dan as a mediator to conduct Mediated Settlement Conferences in Superior Court Civil Actions. Dan lives in Charlotte with his wife and three daughters.
